Prof A.K.Singhvi Text of talk given to XIIth Standard students on their farewell function 22-02-07.   Dear Young Friends, I   am   very happy to be here with you. It is always wonderful to be with young people and I have a special feeling today. Friends, The funny thing about life is that you realize the value of something only when it begins to leave you and I do realize the fun of being young as I grow older. To an extent I envy you as you are born in the most exciting times. I wish I was thirty –forty years younger.  Given the India poised scenario , ten years ago for those in school it was too early and ten years from now it will perhaps be too late. The ranges of career option that are open to you are increasing at an unprecedented rate. This opportunity also brings to you a tremendous responsibility, a challenge of succeeding.  If you succeed, then India will succeed and if you mess it up, India will fail. For School Teachers of Baroda Professor Kasturirangan, Dr. Ramakrishnan, Members of Zenith School Parivar, esteemed colleagues and Friends, I am happy to be here on the occasion of the Science Exposition PANCHAM 2009 being organized by the Zenith School. I must admit that initially I was hesitant to come as I am not used to speaking on such occasion and inaugurals. However my biggest incentive to come here, was you all; the audience comprising teachers. I thought it was a rare opportunity for me to share and articulate my thoughts with you, as a teacher colleague, as a parent and as some one with a dream of seeing India a true world leader in the material and moral, ethical sense. Improving the Ecosystem for Science Education of Gujarat:   Some Suggestions The Gujarat Science Academy (GSA ) was    established in 1978 as an academy of leading scientists in Gujarat from various disciplines encompassing science education, research and outreach in all dimensions of science and technology, that inform the well being of the society. Scientific disciplines covered by GSA range from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Nuclear and Space   Sciences / Technology, Computers and IT, Mathematics, all branches of Engineering and Technology, Earth Sciences, Medical Sciences in their broadest sense.
